Bye Bye Mid-year exams

It's over. Thank goodness for that. I really hate those massive amount of pressures in a past few weeks during study break and exam weeks. I stuck in my room at least 18 hours a day without seeing anyone. The worst part was I procrastinated most of the time, as you can see I spent hell loads of time on cooking and baking. Oh well, at least it's over now, I had my last exam yesterday which was computer science. It was okay for an hour exam and I was short of twink (my boyfriend told me that I'm not supposed to use twink in exams, who cares I've been using since first year of uni).

After exam, he picked me up with his friend's car. Such a funny car I must say, I actually named it 'Exocist' because it shakes LITERALLY when you off the engine. It was quite freaky at first but it's quite fun once you get used to it. It reminds me of a bumpy ride except this car is not moving. Anyhow, we had late lunch in town and a bit of a walk around the city. I really enjoyed my yesterday afternoon as in view of the fact that I got to see people. It's like you are back to the society again (now I sound like an outcast huh!)

Window shopping was the main theme for me yesterday. As a matter of fact, I was looking for a present for mom. Her birthday is in August which I still have quite a bit of time but I also need a bit of time to save up. As I'm planning to get her either a Burberry bag or Louis Vuitton bag (now you know why I need to save up). Mom loves Louis Vuitton bags (so do I), mom is pretty much LV fanatic. She has heap loads of LV bag (proudly sponsored by my dad) but Burberry is not yet in her collections. I didn't give her anything last year for some reason but I threw mom and dad a surprise 25th anniversary party last year and before I came back here I gave her a big sum of money. So I counted as a birthday present (cheeky..hehehe) Yet, this year I want to get her something special and considering it's going to be her 50th birthday. I know that she would be pleased with either LV or Burberry bag more than perfumes (which I gave her in previous years). Let's face it, my mom and I are pretty much those materialistic women.

It's quite easy to choose what to buy for mom because she only likes two things, branded bags and perfumes but the not so easy part is MONEY. Maybe it's LOTTO time for me *sigh*. Save up Save up...LOTTO..LOTTO.

World Cup

I'm pretty sure that at least one in every ten persons' blogs have world cup 2006 article and yes I'm one of them. I'm not a big fanatic soccer fan but I don't mind watching it, I really enjoy watching it actually. Unfortunately, I've been watching only 3 matches so far because first of all I don't have sky or cable TV at home. So I either have to go find somwhere that has sky digital or have to wait for re-run programs on normal television. I went to casino this morning at 2a.m. don't get me wrong, I didn't go there to gamble, I went there just to borrow their facilities such as, tv (sky), free lemon water and toilet. hahaha I didn't even bring cash. Anyway, it was quite a lot of people who had the same intention as me which is watching soccer not gambling because they also don't have sky at home.

The match didn't start until 3a.m. and it was England versus Ecuador. I actually cheered Ecuador to win this game, regrettably England won by 1-0. Oh well, I don't really give a darn anyway as I put my heart and my soul to Brazil (you'd better win).
I know a lot of people gamble over this world cup thing which is okay for them, as the matter of fact it's none of my business. However, I read the Thai newspaper the other day and it said that a lot of teenagers or some of them even younger than 12 year old, selling their bodies just to get more money in order to bet. Also, what I meant by teenagers I don't only mean just girl teenagers but it applies to boys as well. If you want to gamble, just gamble for fun with little amount of money. Don't involve your life or your body in it because at the end of the day gambling takes you nowhere except 'downhill'. I know some of my friends gamble and that's their own rights and most importantly they know their limits and they have their own limitations on how far they can go and I really respect that. Gambling for me is a no no, it's not because I want to be a goody gal, it's just I don't have luck in this way. Actually, I played scratchy yesterday just to see that if I could win 50,000 dollars hahahaha....just like i've said I have no luck in this way.

So the bottom line is, i have nothing against gambling as far as you know your limit and know when to stop. Rock on World Cup 2006.

Cold day

Today was so cold. Actually, this morning hmm no it's more like this afternoon I took so long to get my big arses out of the bed. I didn't want to leave my bed at all except that I needed to use toilet. That was when I decided to get up, I've done lots of study today and as the matter of fact I'm going to carry on study after I finishy typing today's blog. I think I'm addicted to this, it's like you always try to find something interesting to do so you have something to write about. It's good in a way that you can make your life more stimulating and more fascinating. Oh well, that is how I feel anyway. I didn't cook today because I just couldn't be bothered and yep...blame it on the weather.

By the way, I create a new blog which is specially made for cooking and baking. I don't want to turn this particular blog into a "cooking blog" (who cares..really, it's not like people read it..hahaha). So whoever read this blog and have even a tiny interest in cooking or baking. Just drop by to http://microcosmicspace.blogspot.com

Trust me, if I can cook, you also can cook. All the food that I make I try to avoid all th
e complications which peolple usually find in the recipe books. I normally adapted those recipes to be much more simpler to follow. Also, those recipe books usally suggest you to use some weird ingredients or something way too expensive in order just to make your food looks nice but doesn't necessarily create any better taste, let's face it as long as the food taste good..that's all matter. Therefore, the stuffs that I cook are pretty much economical and you definitely can find all the ingredients just in any supermarkets.

Welcome to my kitchen Part2

Welcome back to my kitchen Part2. Today's menu is Chicken and cheese sandwich. First of all, let me tell you this...It's ridiculously cold outside and my utmost priority for today is 'not leaving the house' and that's including no dining out as well. Luckily, I found that I still have 2 big pieces of chicken breast and a loaf of Vienna bread which I bought ages ago in my fridge and cheddar cheese from last night so I can enjoy myself in the warm cosy den (with a full blast of gas heater).

In any case, this recipe is really easy make. What you need is 2 chicken breasts (trimmed), 2 table spoons olive oil, salt and cracked black pepper, boiled egg, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1/4 minced black olive, 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese and 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese. 6 slices of Vienna bread. It's for 2-3 servings by the way.

Firstly, heat a large non-stick frying pan over high heat. Brush the chicken with oil, sprinkle with salt and p
epper and cook til both sides cooked through. Secondly, add boiled egg, minced black olive with mayonnaise and mix them together in a bowl, then chuck in those thinly slice chickens and stir to combine. Thirdly, spread the chicken mixture over three slices of bread and top with the cheeses and remaining slices of bread. Lastly, place the sandwiches on a baking tray and cook under a preheated oven 200 degree celsius for 5 to 6 minutes or until toasted.

I also added in left over hand-cut chips from last night meal as well. It doesn't take long to cook
at all. It's pretty easy and less mess than the cooking that I did last night. Even though, it less mess and easier to cook and the name of the dish is nowhere near posh but the taste is fabulous. It tastes like those food from gourmet restaurants excpet this dish is much cheaper and you can do it at home. Trust me, if I can do it you also can do it. I'm one of the nightmare cooks alive. Therefore, before you go eat out or getting takeaway, look inside your fridge first if there's some remaining left over that you can cook or use...do it. You can save a few bucks and it's a nice way to clean up your fridge as well.

Odd spot: Mageirocophobia is the intense fear of having to cook.

Welcome to my kitchen...

Those recipes haunted me! I'm serious, they even paid me a visit in my dream. I can't remember much about what happend in that dream but it was something like I went to some restaurant in town and I ordered those dishes. Anyway, I went to the supermarket again this evening to get all the ingredients that I needed. It took me around an hour something to complete my mission. Actually, it was really fun when I cooked those dishes but when I looked at the amount of things that I have to clean up...I think you know how I feel. Thanks goodness, that my boyfriend and I have a deal that 'I cook, he washes' and vice versa. Therefore, he was responsible with the big pile of dishes, pot, and wok.
What I have here are the photos of those dishes:

Hand-cut chips with aioli
Cheese and olive crumbled chicken

Brownie Chocolate cakes

Enjoy the meal :)

Cooking time

I went to supermarket the other night for grocery shopping, actually it only took me 15 minutes to get all the stuffs that I want. However, it took me almost half an hour at the magazine aisle. You know how people love to read 'free' magazines, you can flip and read through every page without getting told off by the supermaket's staffs. I love it (gosh..i'm so cheap huh!). Anyway, this time I was a good customer I actually bought a magazine. It took me quite awhile to decide which magazines should i get between New Idea or Donna Hay. I was like "hmm...do I want to know more about Kristy Ally's yoyo diet in New Idea or 90+ easy recipes in Donna Hay". I meant they both are quite similar in terms of food and fatening. Anyhow, Donna Hay won since I finished reading a New idea magazine while I was making a decision.

Lots and lots of recipe in this magazine, I'm not kidding but most of them are not eas
y to cook. I always get dizzy when I have to read through ingredient part. I know there are quite a few kinds of sugar but I never knew that there are 6 kinds of them : icing (I know that), brown, caster (I also know those two), demerara, dark brown (why on earth do you need dark brown when you already have brown), and granulated. What on earth is that....

I'd love to host a formal party at my house but I kinda doubt it though because trust me it's going to be a huge job and more importantly, I hate cleaning up. I do have dish washer but I prefer handwash (don't ask me why). Anyway, this week I'm planning to cook hand-cut chips with aioli for an entre then cheese and olive crumbled chicken with tomatoes and green beans for the main course and finishing off with chocolate brownie cakes. Oh Oh...I've almost forgotten about soup...hahahaha..chicken can soup is a perfect choice. I don't really care about the soup.

I still don't know when I'm going to get my hands on it though. Considering I still have to study for my other exam. You could say that this sudden idea of cooking is one part of my procrastinatory ideas.

Exam is on!!!

I had my first exam this afternoon from 2.30 til 5.30 p.m. I was so tired but at the same time when I walked out of the exam room the amount of pressure disappeared just like that. Japanese Art course is something that I really enjoyed during the first semester. However, the amount of things that I have to memorize it's ridiculous. The materials for this course are pretty much about the history of Japanese Art and aesthetics, I love history because my father is an antique seller and I find that this course is fascinating. Yet, once it comes to exam...I don't find it's pleasing anymore because there is a lot to read and you have to think that maybe this art can be associated with this aesthetic or maybe there's more than one aesthetic in this work of art ya di ya di ya.
Anyway, I still have one more exam to go which is computer science in ten more days....wish me luck guys. Laterz.

Austerity or I'm just stingy?!?

Last month, just out of the blue mom told me to keep a record on this month's expense and I was like "why ma?". Of course, mother's typical answer "no reason but you SHOULD do it anyway!". I meant if you know me personally, you know that I love to buy things. I'm not a big spender but it's a feeling that if you go into some shops and you kinda feel bad if you don't buy anything from them (maybe i'm just too paranoid). Anyway, I'm that type of person but once mom asked me to keep an account strictly it's like she cast some kind of spell on me. She's not a witch okay (practically..oops) but everytime I want to take money out of my wallet I feel bad....truthfully.
Moreover, I'm proudly to announce that I haven't spent a single cent since hmm...Friday. I know it's lame but hey it's a big achievement for me okay considering I live by myself and I ususlly don't cook at home. Actually, I was close to let my money fly out of my pocket today but thanks to my awesome boyfriend (yeah..i called him a sloth last time).. he paid for my dinner. To think of it, it's quite good in a sense that I try my best not to spend any money or keep it minimal but I'm scared that I'm going to become a stingy person (my boyfriend would disagree with this cause he said I'm stingy! what a nice bloke). Anyway, I better go wash up now.

Can you be my rescuer?

I'm bored...someone please rescue me QUICK!!! I've been reading my notes and looking through all the slides (for my art history) and believe me I almost fell sleep. However, I have no choice cuz my first exam is coming pretty soon, next Monday actually (and why am I here, I should be studied).

There was two good things happend to me today though, the first one I had such a nice lunch at a Chines
e restaurant and I meant it, it was really nice. The second good thing was I got to watch 'the fast and the furious, Tokyo drift'. I'm not going to write much about this movie, because to be honest there's not much things to write. The whole genre of this movie is just cars, gals and drifting and it's a very typical plot. The only enjoyment that you probably obtain from this movie is you get to see lots of nice car and mini-skirts. In my opinion, this movie is an excellence choice if you want to kill time.

Oh one more thing, I love RX8 in this movie and the reason = I have the same one! hahaha...(okay I should stop bragging)

Tokyo Story

Last Friday night was pretty dull..yep the day I fell down from steps (okay you can stop laughing now). It was the end of term 2 and I didn't want to do anything apart from getting some good films from blockbuster store and watch them til i fall sleep. That was when I found this film 'Tokyo Story'. Tokyo Story is one of the world finest movies and I can gurantee it's worth to watch.
I first
encountered the name 'Tokyo Story' in one of my textbooks (don't ask which one...I can't remember but i did okay!). They put this film in textbooks as a case study in noteworthy film-making. This movie is about 136 minutes (according to the dvd description).

Tokyo Story represents the story of an elderly couple in post World War II Japan who come to Tokyo to visit their children and
realize that the family has basically fallen apart. They found that their children are not as nice as they used to be when they were young. Their children became more greedy and full of selfishness. However, their widowed daughter-in-law is in contrast, she is way nicer to the couple more than their own children.
This film makes me wonder that how come people can be so cruel even to their own parents. For instant, there was one part that
the children sent their aging parents off to a health spa just to get them out of the way. How sad is that! I know it's just the film but don't forget these kind of things really exist and that make me sad. My mom used to say to me when I was a little girl that "look after your parents while you can, don't wait until the last mintue". It's true that some people can't look after their parents because they might have some issues but think about it some family have at least 5 kids and the parents can look after them but once they grow old, those 5 children hesitate to look after 2 aging parents.

I'm not saying I'm a good daughter but I'm a true believer that if you treat your parents well once you have your own kids, they
would do the same thing to you. Therefore, this movie teaches me to put more value into family and knowing that parents won't be with you forever.Either one of us will go first, so treat each other well now or else there will be no chance to do it.

Hello Santa..where's my present

It's snowing..yippie. I love snow and that's right we have snow in the middle of June. In a past three years Christchurch has been providing us snow and of course I love it. I'm so tempted to go outside to make a snowman or at least starting a snow fight with my next door neighbour but all I can do is just looking at those beautiful flakes falls down from sky through my windows. I have a terrible cold and sore throats. I've been taking a lot of medicines since yesterday but it doesn't seem to get any better. Anyhow, I better go back to bed and hopefully Santa would stop his sled outside my house and try to pass me some awesome presents through small dirty chimney (I supposed to clean it yesterday but couldn't be bothered). Merry Christmas (very early).hahaha

Cuz I have a bad day

Did I set the wrong foot when I left my bed this morning?...I'm not too sure about that...but there's one thing that I'm very certain is I fell down from the steps outside my door this morning. I landed on my front and believe me it was very painful. I blame it on the icy floor and probably...yeah yeah my clumsiness which caused me these ugly, swollen and painful bruises and a few minor scratches. My day got worst when I went to uni and had to suffer with the long and boring lectures, I couldn't stop looking at my watch and pray that the fire alarm would go off (hang on..that's not good cuz I can't run) or something that can shorten these dull and uninteresting lectures.
I went to see my boyfriend at lunch time and hoped that we could go and grab something for lunch then I can go back to uni to do my works. However, he was too lazy and wanted to sleep (gosh..I hope he sleep until he dies) maybe he was a sloth in his past life. I haven't eaten anything since lunch time and now I'm a little bit hungry but I can't be bothered to cook. Therefore, I'd probably go get something to eat from takeaway later.

I meant today wasn't that bad..like really really bad but compare to other days...today wasn't exactly good.

$$$

I really need to win Lotto! I need a lot of money now. It's not that I'm a big spender or anything close to that. It's just that I have to buy hell loads of material for my printmaking project. Yesterday, I spent close to 700 bucks (NZD), paper alone already cost me $400..... and yep, that price was on special (Imagine if it wasn't on special). The rest of the money was for my inks and trust me those inks only last me for a month. Uni should give us (art students) funds...seriously we pay heap loads of money to the department but they don't provide us anything..seriously nothing. You have to pay for every freaking single things. Sucks! Oh well, this year is my final year so it's my final sacrifice. The department should have a policy that 'if you spent more than a thousand dollars on your project materials, you are guaranteed to get at least B grade".

My first exam is coming real soon..and to tell you the truth I'm not ready yet! I always find ways to procrastinate during the study break. Actually, there are heaps of way to just ignore your precious books and doing something that you probably don't give a darn when you 'have time'. For example, walking around my garden just to see that I can't get rid of those hideous ugly looking plants or watching 'footballer wives' program on Channel 2. What a sad way to play for time (of study). There was one time, I really really didn't want to study but I couldn't find anything to do around my house so I sent an awfully long email to my brother who I hardly talk to. Let's face it, emailing your brother who you hardly talk to cuz both of you don't share the same thoughts...that's quite bad. Also, knowing that there will be no reply from him even make it's more tragic. Hopefully, in this coming study break I can put at least 80% of my concentration into my study. Also, I better make sure that my brother is not going to block me on his email list!!!

Omen 666

This morning was so freaking cold...I really didn't want to go to COSC lab at 9a.m. but i had to get my work checked so..I pretty much had no choice.
As you can see, the titile is Omen 666 and yes I already watched it. It was okay I guess, yet it could have been better. I personally haven't seen the origianl version of the Omen but I watched the tv program about 'the omen legacy' last week which they were talking about the sequel of the Omen movies back in 1976. I have to admit that this version is almost exactly the same as the old one. Of course, the story line has to be exactly the same but what I meant 'the same' is in terms of the scenes, actions and dialogues. The only difference in this 2006 version is 'better graphic' and they have more technologies i.e. cellphones and nicer cars. The boy who plays as Damien (antichrist), gosh he looks really stupid. He doesn't have a 'creepy quality' like the original Damien back in 1976. If I was the director, I'd rather use those life-size soft toys to play as Damien (cutting the cost as well....good thinking). I'm not saying that this movie is a waste of time but it's not really worth it. It's okay if you want to watch it but I recommend you to wait until the dvd comes out so you can watch with your mates and after the film you and your mates can trash about that stupid looking boy. Before my friend and I went to see the film, we overheard some gal was talking to her friends around the candy bar area, she said 'oh my gosh..my brother told me that this movie is real good and the most important..it's so scary. He watched it before (1976 version)". So my friend and I were like....wicked cuz it's something we both really need after a long suffering with stupid movies in a past few months. Anyhow, after the film we looked at each other and first thing that popped out of my mouth was 'which part was scary???' and my friend replied me 'I was going to ask you the same thing'.
I can't really put a conclusion now that 1976 version is better than 2006 version until I get to see the whole entire film of the original Omen. I don't want to put a high hope about it though..or else I have to hunt that girl's brother down and ask him 'which part is scary?'.
The only cool part about this movie is the movie ticket. I never seen a movie ticket contains so many number '6'. It'd be awesome if I could get E6 for my seat.
That's all for now... I'm gonna have a long day tomorrow oh well it will be over soon for term2 but darn...exams are coming real soon (I have two exams..sucks).

What's up with movies these days

Okay now I'm watching the 'making of Omen 666' program on tely. Basically, this movie is a remake of the Omen in 1976. The whole story line is about an American diplomat and his wife adopt a child, but then they begin to suspect their adopted son is the Antichrist.
I have to admit that while I'm watching this program I begin to feel that is this kind of thing for real? Would Satan really send his son here..and seriously what for? People still commit sins no matter what.
It is important to mention about 'the Da Vinci code'. Why people have to make such a big fuss about it..it's just a movie people. I know you guys love Jesus and so do I. However, it is important to keep things in mind that imagination sometimes can take you beyond the limit *hence the Da Vinci code movie.
I have to admit that I,myself a movie fanatic but I'm not a movie critic. I don't really give a darn about the composition of the films or the movie angles. You could call me a stupid consumer if you want, I choose to watch movies by their previews. I don't care about all the comments which critics have made. I'm looking forward to watch Omen 666. Why 666???..the hell I know, I only know that the release date is on 6/6/06. I'm not sure this remake will be a big hit like the old one or not. I might be disappointed after I watch this film but oh well..we will find out when I get my arse to a movie theatre.

Contradicting

My friends and I used to have a conversation about creating blogs and to be honest at that time we all agreed that it was such an unintelligent idea to put your life on internet. However, here I am with my own blog...so contradicting huh! (and half of my friends already have their own blogs)

To tell you the truth, I was bored to the max and that's the reason why i created this blog. I suposed to type my art history notes but the procrastination brought me here and persuaded me to sign up. Now, I'm stuck..I don't know what to write. Talking about weather is boring, talking about food is making me hungry. Maybe I should get back to type my notes and wait til 7.30p.m. to watch top gear.
