Indian time

Tell you what, I almost puke 2 minutes ago. Not that I'm sick or anything close to that, it's just I'm too full and the worst of all I just finished a big glass of water. I just blame it to myself but at the same time I have no regret for that. I just had a wonderful dinner at the indian restaurant called 'Little India' on merivale.

Butter chicken for Sean and Chicken Tikka Masala for me, we surely enjoyed our food. Not to mention very nice services that we received from this little india restaurant (we only saw one indian man there, while the waiter is kiwi and another waitress is Malaysian...hmm). What I loved the most about this restaurant is a complimentary poppadom with some sauce full of herbs. It only took them around 15 minutes til our main dishes arrived which I think it's pretty good. Our food came in a small bronze pot which when you first saw it, you'd surely think 'gosh..that's such a rip off' because the amount looks so little but don't let it fools you. I couldn't finish my meal and so did Sean. The atmosphere of the restaurant is alright except that we were sitting in the room full of people and they were talking really LOUD...seriously. Apart from that the whole thing was excellent.

The price is also quite reasonable, some may say it's rather expensive
but if you think about the service that you get, I think it's worth it. Tonight we spent 37.80 dollars on our meals which are Butter chicken (16.90), Chicken Tikka Masala (17.90) and Garlic Nan (3) *Rice comes with the meals.

Sean has to go to uni to do work, so I'm kinda have nothing to do apart from writing this blog and talking to Lai about his fish tank.

Back to Christchurch

13 hours flight back was a pain in the arse. Food sucks, movies on board were nothing but garbage. At least I arrived here safe and sound.

I wish I could stay in Thailand longer but that would be unfair to myself as I still have to do fine art works. I just finished unpacking not long ago. I didn't get out of my comfy bed til 2.30p.m. I blame it on jet lag. *sigh* back to reality again.

Two more months til I go back to Thailand to see my family again..can't wait.

Trip to Thailand Part 3

Date: 21/08/2006

Mom and I had a tight schedule today, firstly we had to go to district office to renew our ID. Actually, I have to renew as mine already expired since 9th of August while mom still has one more day before her expiry date. We left hotel at 8.30a.m., we reached the district office at 9.30a.m. to find out that we can't renew our ID today as it's full. Sucks! We decided to go back again on Wednesday, and this time we will have to get there by 8a.m.

My driver drove me, mom, mom's sister-in-law and mom's friend to the emporium mall. I had an appointment with my dearest friend, Maggy. Mom and her crews just want to check out something at the mall so they followed me. Everywhere we walked, 90% of people wear Yellow shirt/t-shirt. Why? It's easy and simple, because today is Monday (monday = yellow). Actually, not only that, it also because thai people try to show their respects to our mighty King by wearing yellow shirt (why yellow, I really don't know but the official said so). Mom bought me a few yellow t-shirt so I won't be a black sheep among yellow sheep..hehehe

I feel so happy for the king to know that so many people love him, most of us can die for him. It's really rare to find a good King that people can sacrifice their lives for. Anyway, after we had a big lunch at the mall, we took BTS to Siam Paragon (apparently, it's the biggest mall in the southeast asia now). We spent time there around an hour then I had to fled home because mom and I had another appointment.

So tired....and sleepy....
Day 3
22/08/2006

Today is mom's actual birthday. We woke up early to the temple and buy coffins for those people who can't afford it. It's so freaking hot in Thailand, I sweat like hell...yuck.

Dad brought a new puppy home (AGAIN). This time he brought a male cocker spaniel, he's 2 months old and so freaking fat. I called him Yum Yai. Dad always brings puppy home, ,mom hates it but there's nothing she can do because after awhile mom falls in love with them.

I can't remember much about what happend today, oh we went out for dinner at Chinese restaurant with family friends..that's about it I think. Mom got new cellphone for her birthday. Oh I gave her 1000NZD for her birthday (now i'm broke)!

Day 4
23/06/2006

Mom and I rushed to the district office in the morning at 8.10a.m. We got to do our ID today, but we have to come back in the afternoon. We got queue 96 and 97, they only accpet 120 applications each day.

Dad's friends brought food for me and my mom, everytime I go back they always cook me...so nice of them However, they cooked so much I thinkfor we asked people around dad's shop at least 20 people to join us. Even so, we still have lots of left over to take home. Mom and I supposed to go to Karaoke house for dinner (it's semi restaurant semi karaoke), but for some reason we didn't go. So mom, mom's sis-in-law and I headed down to Chinatown. We had way too much food there, then he hit a ride to Khao sarn road to buy clothes. I got a cool sunglasses for only 140 baht (6 NZD). It was so damn fun, we walked around for a bit until we realized that it's almost midnight so we took a cab home.

Pad Thai at Chinatown, costs less than 1 NZD

Day 5:
24/08/2006

I spent most of my morning at IT mall, got heaps of dvd and vcd. Mom and I had an appointment to see some lady who brings the sample of plates, cups..etc. Mom wants to customize all the plates and utensils for our new house.

I had an appointment with dad's clients at Conrade hotel. Food there was marvelous, dad's clients were lovely as well. We didn't talk much about work, mom and I were busy eating...hehehehe. The best part was we had dinner at the exclusive private lounge, so we had our own privacy, we can laugh as loud as we want.

We got home quite late, mom and I were talking until we fell asleep. I'm leaving tomorrow, it's pretty sad for both of us since we are so closed. Oh well...I will see her again in a couple of months.

Trip to Thailand Part 2: Mom's birthday

Date: 22/08/06 (P.M.)

The whole purpose of this trip is to surprise my mom on her 50th birthday but one thing I should have realized is "the waiting bit". The party started at 6p.m. but dad didn't let me to go down til 7.30p.m. Sitting and waiting in the hotel room is a pain in the arse especially when you're by yourself. My bro came up to my room with dad's good pal at 7.20p.m. to inform me about the plan, at 7.30 p.m. they put me in the dressing room and wait for the signal from MC.

At 7.40 p.m. the MC annouced that there's a special femal MC (that's me). I walked up on the stage with a bouquet for my mom. Mom didn't realize that it was me on stage until she heard my voice. Her look was priceless, she almost fell down when she saw me... I just stood there and laugh my arse off. Then mom walked up to the stage, her eyes were watery, her mouth kept on saying 'how can you be here, aren't you supposed to be at Hanmer Spring'. *I called her in the morning and told her that I'm going to Hanmer Spring for a night (thanks goodness she forgot her glasses when she was talking to me on the phone or else she would have noticed the phone number).

Mom's birthday party was huge, it was almost 300 guests attended this party. Dad hired at least 5 restaurants and that's not including hotel's buffet. Mom's friend brought all the singers that my mom likes to perform in this party while dad's friends brought comedians and cabaret. Six hours packed off entertainments. That night was magical. Lots of people came to greet my mom on her special day, from politicians, high commissioners until people who work at the market place. It shows that our family don't care who you are, as long as you're good people we'd love to get to know you.

The night was ended with laugh and tears (of joy). 13 hours flight was worth it, to see my mom and my family. To be able to see them laugh, to be part of mom's special day...priceless..even master card can't beat that. hehehehe. I still have one free night at the hotel, so mom and I decided to sleep at the hotel instead of going home, plus we get free breakfast..who can say no for free food...I still have 5 more days to spend in Thailand, I better make the most of it. hehehehe...
Happy Birthday Mom.

Trip to Thailand Part 1: Email to Sean

Date: 22/08/06

Hi Kiddy,

I decide to wake up after countless attempts to sleep. I kept waking up every hour...seriously every hour. First I had stomachache and then I felt stuffy so I said to Mammam that I have to wake up and wait until 9 o'clock so I can call my mom. My flight was okay, actually from ChCh to Singapore wasn't that bad. I was sitting next to a middle-age couple, they are lovely and I think they are on 7 weeks holiday and going around Europe. I wish we could do that. I didn't get drunk with Sarah on the plane, but we sat quite close to each other though. I was on row 35 while she was on row 38, too bad we didn't get to talk much because it was a full flight, it's not a good idea to walk around. The food were suck as expected so yeah. I arrived Singapore at 7.35p.m which was the time that I have to board my next plane. Luckily the gates are only 2 doors away from each other so I managed to catch my flight on time (no need to run like a mad woman like those previous years).

I got to sit next to this weird looking boy, it's not exactly sitting next to each other I was on the left aisle and he was in the right aisle seat so there's one free empty middle seat. Anyway, he had this giant headphone on and I assumed that he thinks that he's in 8 Miles movie or he's another form of Eminem or something. I know he tried to look cool or whatsoever but trust me for me this boy is nothing near cool, he's pretty much like a FREAK. First of all, he on his music so loud and I'm very certain that he will turn deaf by the age of 17 *mark my words*. So he decided to ACT along the song, with all those hip-hop hand motions and moves. I tried my very best to ignore him but couldn't help looking at him once in awhile and feel so sorry for his parents and at the same time wonder that do they know that their kid is nothing but freak. For crying out loud, the flight was packed of people but he was very BRAVE with those moves.

So as you could imagine my flight was nothing but miserable. The flight time is 2 hours but I felt like I've been sitting there for at least 1 year. My flight delayed by 15-20 minutes due to the traffic jam (gosh you thought you could avoid this problem on the plane..but you're wrong). The last 20 minutes on this flight, I was ready to kill myself because of the boy next to me and I did nothing but looking at the screen right in front of me with the flight details, seeing my plane made a couple of funny turns (I could have watched ice age (AGAIN) but they took my headset away because we WERE going to land 30 minutes ago).

Anyway I arrived safe and sound. My dad told me that his friend would pick me up outside the gate but I didn't see anyone until I walked to the baggage belt I saw these two guys were walking toward me then I realized that was my dad and his friend. At first, my dad told me that only him and one of mom's friends know that I'm coming back but it turns out more than 5 people know that I'm here. Screw them really because I know some of them are quite big mouth (I don't mean NA Tawan, he's an awesome guy). Mom's party is tonight and I just can't wait to see her. It has been quite awhile since I last saw her. Mom didn't have her birthday party last year due to Grandpa's illness so this year has to be big. According to my dad (who loves exaggerating things...in a positive way), he said roughly around 200 or 300 people will attend this party. Trust me, some of them are just free loaders and maybe they don't even know who my mom is. I'm not being so negative nancy or anything like that but I know these people and usually my prediction is always right.

Three more hours to go and my dad will be here, having breakfast with me then he will off to work (yep, he also works on Sunday..). So I will spend my so called "secret" time with my driver and hopefully won't run to my mom. Dad told me to go buy some clothes..pretty much enjoy myself with his credit card but I think I might try to get a hold of my friends then go have brunch or something. Gosh I can't wait for tonight, I spoke to dad last night about my 'POP OUT' plan but I think he will discuss in details later today over breakfast.

By the way, the hotel is not that bad it's quite nice actually. It's huge and to be honest it's so new. I still can smell paint and I feel so grand..well done choosing this room dad. I wish you could be here with me Sean, then we could go to JJ market and have PadThai at the Chinatown. Five more days then I will be back in Christchurch doing my fine art works, so I better make the most of my holidays in this one week then go back to suffer my usual routine. Actually, it's not that bad back in Christchurch because I know that I always have you next to me.

Catch you up later,
Ploy.

Ducky duck

I found this clip on my comp a couple days ago. I think this clip is around 3 years old. Sean and I lured these ducks from the swamp at the Jelly Park.

Bye Bye 21

I feel so old now, for those who are younger than 22 year-old..please treasure your age and live your life to the max. It was so hard for me to let my 21 years old life away, I wish I could hide my age from the time but unfortunately even the most wise man on earth cannot do it. I talked to my friend yesterday and he said 22 is not a big deal, it's not like you're going to become spiderman who need to carry a lot of responsiblities (according to Peter Parker's uncle) or anything like that. So I tried to stay possitive by keep telling myself that I'm so lucky that I can live until now and be able to blow 22 candles on my birthday cake, while lots of kid out there died before they could say their first words. Life is a bit unfair for some reasons.

Nothing so significant on my birthday except it was extremely col
d but at least got sunshine (the whole week has been nothing but nightmare weather). For this year's birthday, I felt a bit empty maybe because my mom's not here to celebrate my birthday with me like in previous years or maybe it's just a fact that I'm 22 now which is suck. I went to uni in the morning to do my works then I went to Buddhist temple (need to do some good things on my birthday, right) and I finished my special day by having dinner at Thai restaurant with Sean, Jing Yi and Tee Chek. Oh and we went to Crown plaza hotel for desert..highly recommend Black forest cake, unlikely recommend macchiato coffee..ask Sean about it.

Small cup is 'macchiato'... BEWARE!!!

There are so many things in life that I haven't done or I just keep putting it off, therefore my goal for my 22 year of age is....continuing putting it off...hahahaha...Time does fly really fast and probably next thing I know...I will start complaining about I'm turning 23.

Twisted Development

That's right..twisted development was the theme for my early birthday party. My actual birthday is on next Wednesday that's why I decided to throw a nice dinner birthday party for myself tonight. i only invited 9 people to this party (for those who I didn't invite please do not hate me), the reason for that is because of the table can only fit 10 people. Why twisted? probably because people thought that we were going to have dinner inside my house like we always do every year but no they were wrong. I started them off by having entre inside the house (first twisted, Andrew thought that entre was the main, so he ate like no tomorrow), but then I asked them to move inside the garage which I set up a formal dinner table, very classy I must say. Surrouding by candles...very romantic (thanks to Sean with the hard work, he also put candles around my backyard garden..very impressive).

I had two choices of food for my guests, one was hot pot and an
other one was korean BBQ so they can choose whatever they want. We had way too much food and drinks (thanks Lu, your wines were fantastic). We finished off with Blackforest cake from De Spa, I ended the party by giving each guest a box which contained one chocolate and a quote about friendship and happiness.

I always wanted to have a classy party which people dress up and drink wines with nice food and chill out music, and yep I had all of those things tonight with my special friends. The dinner tonight was pretty much like a catching up dinner with my friends more than a birthday party. Probably I'm turning to 22 soon so birthday for me is pretty much like a day to remember but nothing to fascinate about. Oh well...4 more days then bye bye 21 year old.. most likely I will spend my birthday talking on the phone with mom and watching movies til i fall asleep.

Welcome you all to my party :)

No title

I just can't think of anything right now, there are so many things in my head and to be honest, sometimes I feel like my head is really big..probably bigger than Bratz doll. I'm having a party at my house this Saturday, it's not like a big thing so don't make such a big deal out of it okay... I only invite a few people to come, mainly just to chill out and catching up with friends. I have been pretty much isolated from other people in the past couple of months so I think it's time for me to get out of my small den and hanging out with my friends.

*sigh* I managed to get up early today, seriously I've been a real slacker since the beginning of this term and this morning I told myself that no more. It's time to get serious, therefore I went to uni early and worked really hard today (I'm so proud of myself). What else did I do today, I went out to get things for the party on Saturday and sort of preparing for my class. Oh I recieved pxt from my long lost friend today. We lost touch for like over 10 years and all of the sudden she called me on Tuesday (while I was in class, it was kinda embarrassing because I didn't turn my phone on silent mode so everyone heard my 'so sick' ringtone..which I actually so sick of that song as well). The most amazing thing is she lives in Auckland, I mean it's quite far from where I live but at least we're in the same country, isn't that amazing.

Gosh it's getting late now, I better go take a shower or else I will end up sleeping with my jeans on and trust me it's not nice and I probably will wake up with heaps of crease over my thighs.

Tracing the process

"Hard work really pays off", do you believe in that quote? I believe 45% of it, not the whole 100%. I just got home from the opening of Printmaking exhibition (4th year and 3rd year printmaking students). Tracing the process is the name of this exhibition, so if you have time and live in Christchurch then go to check it out, okay! It's on now until 11 August, at school of Fine Arts Gallery on campus.

I spent the whole day putting up and putting down my works, it's very ridiculous that people kept changing their minds on where to put their works. I do understand that they wanted the whole thing to look stunning but one thing that they need to understand is, this show is consist of 11 artists, 11 totally different kinds of work, no theme. Therefore, no matter how hard you try... it won't look good together. I had to move 3 times before they satisfied and you know what's funny, my work now is on the wall where it supposed to be in the first place..how ironic is that.
It's worked out now so no need to complain about it, big thanks to Julia for the wonderful job in organising this show.
So for people who read (if there's any), don't forget to check it out. I will upload some pics from the exhibition later this week (if I can remember which I'm kind of doubt it).

What happend yesterday?..hmm..let me think, nothing really oh oh hang on I remember now. I watched 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', such a nice film I must say, staring gorgeous Audrey Hepburn. However, I prefer the book rather than the movie though probably because the story in the book is more realistic and the ending is not as corny as the movie. My friend told me that 'Roman Holiday' is really good, I will try my best to get a hold of that dvd sometimes later this week..gosh so many things to do but so little time. I think I should get going and better remind myself to give mom a call later, I talked to her last night but the whole conversation was about a big crowd of huge mosquitoes attacked her while she was talking on the phone. You rock MOM!
